Back to Items
Dereth Tarot cards come in two varieties, lesser trump and greater trump. Lesser trump cards are mostly found on monsters under level 45, but are also uncommonly dropped by higher level monsters. Greater trump cards are usually dropped by hero level monsters, but may rarely be found on lower level monsters.

Unlocking Tarot Melds
Upon reaching Hero status, the Fortune Teller in Cavendo will give you the "Tarot Quest: Significator" subquest. To complete it, just hand her one greater trump card. Which one you choose seems to have no effect on anything, but this card will become your personal "Significator" card. Hold onto this card. It is used to gain the experience rewards from melds as detailed below, and the Significator is never consumed in the process.
Significator
Greater Trump Melds
Once you become a hero and complete the Tarot: Significator quest, you'll get quest recipes to create melds of greater trump cards. Each meld will look like a stack of cards or a gateway. The melds that look like gateways can be used for one-time experience rewards or craft experience rewards (see below). The melds that look like groups of cards can be used either for one-time experience rewards or to combine into fate cards for strong buffs.

Fate Card Buffs
The other use for melds is to create strong buffs in the form of "fate cards." To do this, use your meld on the type of lesser trump card shown. There are three levels of strength; lesser fate cards, normal fate cards, and greater fate cards. Which one you receive depends on your "lucky number." Each character has a certain number, from Ace to King, which gives greater fate cards with a certain meld. It can be any one of the 14 numbers found on lesser trump cards. When you make a meld with this lucky number, you will get a message that you created an "optimal fate card," and receive the greater version of the fate card. Remember this number! It will make every fate card you create with it stronger. Otherwise, you will receive the lesser or normal version of the buff.
