All MMORPG have a Role system when group fighting. Asheron's Call 2 has is own system that is based on the "holy triad" of RPG: Tanks, Healers and Damage Dealers, but with some special roles in what other games call "Support".

Contents

Tanks

Generally having high armor levels combined with superb evasion, taunts and often crippling skills, the Tank is the captain of the active combat group. Tanks fearlessly engage their enemies head-on and usually are in charge of what, and when, to attack. Tanks are the primary damage recipient in fellowship combat, tasked with keeping aggro on enemies and protecting the more vulnerable roles from harm.
The classes that can perform this role with success for a wide range of enemies are:

Human Tumerok Lugian Empyrean Drudge
Defender Feral Intendant Juggernaut Templar

Healers

The Healer has the crucial role of keeping the fellowship vitalized and invigorated during and in between combat. The primary responsibility is keeping the tanks alive, but other duties include: group healing/vigor healing, buffing, vitae recovery, curatives for illness, and for the most devout of healers, the ability to resurrect fallen fellows.
The only 2 classes that have the tools to perform this role with success are on the table bellow. There are others classes that can occasionally perform a weaker healer role, although with the tools available to those classes, they can only be a single targeted healer.

Type Human Tumerok Lugian Empyrean Drudge
Main Role Healer Sage
Spot Role Defender

Damage Dealers

Damage Dealers are the character and force of a fellowship. They are the vital link between the tanks and healers; without their constant bleeding, crippling & confounding of enemies, the rest of the fellowship would not outlast their opponents. Able to deliver bloodletting attacks, often in fast powerful bursts, Damage Dealers are artisans of combat. All other classes that are not in tank or healer role are usually classified as damage dealers. Considering that some have a support role (see more information bellow) the "pure" damage dealers are:

Human Tumerok Lugian Empyrean Drudge
Bounty Hunter Zealot Berserker Mentalist Drudge
Ranger Hivekeeper Tactician Hieromancer
Alchemist Invoker Raider
Elementalist

Support

There's not a real role of "support" but either a combination of Tank, Healer or Damage Dealer with one of the "sub-roles" we list bellow or even a combination of some of them.

Debuffers

Debuffers are the characters that increase the fellowship efficiency by crippling enemies, reducing they're strength, defenses, attacks and even skills. They are the sculptors of the enemy and enhancers of the fellowship results.
Some AC2 classes are dedicated Debuffers and usually combine this Role with Damage Dealers.
The classes that can perform this role with success for a wide range of enemies are:

Type Human Tumerok Lugian Empyrean Drudge
Main Role Sorcerer Clawbearer
Secondary Role Enchanter Melee

Missile

Crowd Control

Crowd Controllers are the characters that keep the enemies numbers in check and allow the fellowship to prioritize the attacks. They can make enemies idle or dormant, distract and confuse the foes, so the group can define witch enemies to engage. They are the guardians of the fellowship.
Some AC2 classes are dedicated CC (Crowd Controlers) and usually combine this Role with Damage Dealers, Healers or Buffers.
The classes that can perform this role with success for a wide range of enemies are:

Type Human Tumerok Lugian Empyrean Drudge
Main Role Enchanter Hivekeeper Sage
Secondary Role Alchemist

Buffers

Buffers are the characters that increase the fellowship efficiency by increasing own strength, defenses, attacks and skills. They are the engineers of the fellowship power and the enhancers of the fellowship defenses.
Some AC2 classes are dedicated Buffers and usually combine this Role with Crowd Control or Damage Dealers.
