Soloing group mobs
I'm at level 24 now and I can almost take on blood shreths level 20 group mobs.
I think Thornskin and Acumen are great for group mobs. Alas I havent trained them yet, but would love to test out this theory.
Thornskin reflects damage and is 2/5 buff (2 minutes on, 5 minute reset.) Group mobs hit especially hard, so you'll be taking a lot of damage. This means more damage will be reflected back to them. Also while you're healing, you're not actively doing damage to them. Thus reflect can do damage passively, even while you're healing health and vigor.
Acumen increases damage by some percentage and is aura (permanent buff.) You may also think of it as reducing the mobs' health by around that amount (not exactly but close). Well group mobs have way higher health. That means the amount of health reduced is also greater. For example, assume you have +10% damage buff. Then 200 health solo mob needs approximately 180 damage to kill, and 2,000 health group mob needs only 1800 damage. In the first case, the health reduction is mere 20. On the contrary the group mob has essentially lost 200 health. In conclusion damage percentage buffs and health reduction effects work better on group mobs. This is especially helpful when you're trying to solo them.
So Thornskin and Acumen together should allow Tonks to solo group mobs. Thornskin not only passively damages the mob, but it costs no vigor. This is a great deal. Acumen essentially reduces the health of a mob. This makes the high boosted health of group mobs more manageable. Not only that, these two skills are in the same tree and same branch. Thornskin is required to train Acumen. The latter also requires Esprit, which every Tonk should train anyway.
